On Friday, Arunachal Pradesh's Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik, completed his self-enumeration for Census 2027 at Lok Bhavan, advocating for citizen participation in this crucial national exercise. He explained that self-enumeration empowers citizens to contribute directly to nation-building by providing accurate representations of their personal and regional demographics.
Governor Parnaik underscored the significance of reliable census data, noting that it forms the backbone of planning for essential services like schools, hospitals, and welfare schemes. He remarked that a complete and accurate census is vital for realizing India's development goals and called on citizens to engage in this civic duty with seriousness and awareness.
The Governor also stressed that the exercise extends beyond mere data collection, serving as an essential tool for assessing needs, ensuring fair resource allocation, and strengthening governmental functions. Census officials were urged to ensure comprehensive coverage, with the self-enumeration phase scheduled to run until April 30, followed by in-person data collection throughout May.
