The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has suspended a senior official following allegations of issuing a fake no-objection certificate (NOC) in the Pithampur investment area. The suspension comes amidst claims of document forgery to facilitate land leasing for gas storage.
According to an official statement, Martand Sirolia, the in-charge executive engineer at MPIDC, issued a forged NOC benefiting a landowner. Consequently, the landowner secured permission from the district magistrate's office to store petroleum products, also involving Avantika Gas Limited.
The scandal led to an immediate suspension after a preliminary inquiry revealed the irregularities. MPIDC seeks to thoroughly investigate the issue, while permission granted based on the fraudulent NOC has been revoked. The Pithampur area, near Indore, is a crucial development project covering around 12,500 hectares.
