The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has launched an investigation into West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following her alleged use of derogatory language against the SC community during an election rally. The action was prompted by a video aired on 'Kolkata TV' on April 26, showing Banerjee's alleged remarks.
NCSC has sent notices to West Bengal's chief secretary and police chief, demanding a detailed report within three days. The Commission warns that failure to comply may result in the exercise of powers akin to a civil court, including summons issuance.
The BJP criticized Banerjee, accusing her of betraying marginalized communities while the NCSC underscores its commitment to protecting Scheduled Castes' rights amidst rising incidents of atrocities in West Bengal.
