Justice Unfreezes: Rhea Chakraborty Regains Financial Access
A Mumbai court has ordered the defreezing of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother's bank accounts, citing procedural lapses by the NCB under the NDPS Act. The accounts were frozen during a probe linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The court found the order to freeze was legally invalid.
A special court in Mumbai has lifted the freeze on actor Rhea Chakraborty and her brother's bank accounts, underscoring the failure of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to adhere to necessary procedures under the NDPS Act.
The accounts were initially frozen during an investigation into alleged drug links tied to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Despite the prosecution's arguments of their involvement in a drug syndicate, the defense successfully argued that procedural lapses rendered the freeze order invalid.
Judge U C Deshmukh acknowledged these lapses, citing the absence of a 'competent authority' confirmation within the required timeframe. The court's decision allows Chakraborty and her brother to regain control of their finances.
