Authorities have lodged an FIR against two individuals accused of sabotaging the CCTV system at M Chinnaswamy Stadium during a high-profile IPL match on April 24. The accused, Manjunath and Abdul Kalam, allegedly exploited a deactivated access card to gain unauthorized entry and target key surveillance functions.
The complaint, filed by Aditya Bhat of Staqu Technologies, highlighted the tampering of Network Video Recorder systems and optical fibre connections, which caused over 240 cameras to go offline, compromising vital security zones at the venue. This incident posed a significant threat to the matchday security infrastructure, raising serious concerns.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the duo might have acted out of personal grievances, possibly due to unresolved payment issues. Security systems were swiftly restored, and the incident was mitigated within an hour, ensuring no impact on the cricket match proceedings. Further actions are being planned by law enforcement.
