The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the recently uncovered interstate Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module, detaining five militants, sources confirmed on Monday. Among those apprehended are two Pakistani nationals.
On April 7, a significant operation by Jammu and Kashmir police resulted in the arrest of five LeT operatives, notably Abdullah, aka Abu Hureira, a fugitive for 16 years. Abdullah and another Pakistani terrorist, Usman alias Khubaib, alongside three Srinagar residents, were captured in a joint effort by state and central agencies, revealing a sophisticated network that facilitated logistics and funding for terrorist activities.
The NIA, having assumed case jurisdiction, presented the suspects in a special NIA court in Jammu. Court proceedings resulted in the remand of the five accused, granting a two-day remand for the Pakistani nationals and a 15-day remand for the local operatives, officials reported.
