Two minor girls from Nepal were rescued from a human trafficking attempt near the Indo-Nepal border, thanks to a joint operation by police, Sashastra Seema Bal, and an NGO, officials reported Thursday.
The girls, originating from Nepal's Bardia and Kailali districts, were safely returned to their families on Wednesday, having been temporarily sheltered at a One Stop Centre, said police.
Superintendent Rahul Bhati disclosed that the operation took place on April 28, following a tip-off from Mohammad Yusuf of 'Dehat India'. The joint effort involved various teams, including local police and NGO representatives, who found the girls under suspicious circumstances near the border.
