A disturbing scene unfolded outside the Gurugram Police Commissioner's office on Thursday, as a rape survivor attempted to end her life in a bid for justice. She alleged police inaction despite filing a report against her accused rapist four months ago.
The woman, visibly distressed, brought petrol and a matchbox to the office entrance and was seconds away from self-immolation. The police intervened just in time, preventing her from carrying out this desperate act while attempting to de-escalate the situation.
Videos of the incident are circulating online, capturing the tense moments and the woman's anguished cries. In a message recorded before her protest, she described ongoing threats from the accused and his cohorts, underscoring her frustrations with the lack of legal action. The police have since stated that the accused's arrest is imminent.
