Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar expressed deep concern on Saturday over the brutal crime against a minor girl in Bhor tehsil, Pune district, promising the victim's family swift justice.
Pawar, aligning with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is urging for a fast-track court trial to bring the accused to justice under the stringent POCSO Act. A special public prosecutor will handle the case, with a charge sheet to be filed quickly.
The 65-year-old accused, recently arrested based on CCTV evidence, has a criminal background and will remain in police custody till May 7. The government warns against leniency in such grave matters, emphasizing preventive measures.
