Ashok Kumar Aggarwal, a former Indian Revenue Service officer, has approached a Delhi court to challenge the three-month jail terms given to two CBI officials, including Joint Director Ramneesh. They were convicted in a case of assault and trespass, with Aggarwal advocating for a harsher punishment and seeking a compensation of Rs 1 crore.
The trial court had earlier sentenced the officials for their role in a raid conducted in 2000, which saw Aggarwal unlawfully detained. The appeal describes the incident as a premeditated abuse of power, urging the judiciary to consider the gravity of the offense in handing out a stricter penalty.
Aggarwal's appeal stresses the importance of sending a clear message that official misconduct will not be tolerated, regardless of rank. He highlights the prolonged legal battle and personal suffering endured, calling for a sentence that truly reflects the severity of the act.
