In a significant breakthrough, Punjab Police have apprehended Gurjinder Singh alias Baba Beant in connection with the freight corridor railway track explosion in Shambhu, Patiala. The operation was conducted by the State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar, along with Patiala Police and the Counter Intelligence wing in Pathankot, under the leadership of Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
The investigation has uncovered deep-rooted connections between Gurjinder Singh and Jagroop Singh, who was killed during a premature detonation while planting explosives on April 27. Notably, Gurjinder Singh was present at the blast site but managed to escape uninjured, fleeing after realizing Jagroop's demise.
The arrest exposes a broader terror module backed by international handlers, orchestrating multiple attacks on critical infrastructure. The module maintained strict radio silence and took meticulous precautions to avoid detection, as confirmed by Assistant Inspector General, SSOC Amritsar, Sukhminder Singh Mann. Further probes into the module's activities are ongoing.
