Tensions escalated in the Kaila Bhatta area following an incident involving a procession of devotees returning from a temple of Goddess Durga. Devotees reported being attacked with stones, resulting in multiple injuries as chaos unfolded, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
The dispute began near PAC Chowk after an accidental collision between a devotee, Sajan, and a local resident, Mohammad Zaid. An exchange of words quickly turned violent as a group accused the procession of obstruction, allegedly leading to physical confrontations.
Witnesses reported stone-pelting from rooftops at the pandemonium, with police detaining 10 individuals as a precaution. Injured were treated at a district hospital, and officials assured the community's peaceful status as investigations continue.
