An autopsy report indicates that asphyxia caused the death of a four-year-old girl, who was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered in Pune. Police revealed that the alleged perpetrator, a 65-year-old laborer with a criminal history, gagged the victim by stuffing her mouth with a cloth, leading to suffocation.
The suspect, previously booked for molestation in 1998 and 2015 but later acquitted, lured the girl with promises of food before assaulting and killing her. This incident took place in Narsapur, sparking massive outrage and protests, with hundreds demanding stringent action.
A Special Investigation Team was formed to probe the case, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured that the government seeks the death penalty and will fast-track the trial to ensure justice is served swiftly.
