In a notable crackdown on human trafficking, authorities in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district successfully rescued four minors and arrested two suspects at a local railway station this week. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) acted promptly following a tip-off about a potential trafficking operation.
The children, all residents of Barhait, were promised lucrative jobs in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, with the alleged traffickers, Manoj Sah and Mohammed Ataul Ansari, offering monthly wages between Rs 9,000 and Rs 12,000. The RPF conducted a thorough search on platform 1 of the Barharwa railway station, preventing the transport of these minors out of the state.
In a separate incident, the RPF intercepted six more minors, including two girls, who exhibited suspicious behavior without significant luggage. These children had planned to seek employment elsewhere, having connected via social media. Legal proceedings are underway to ensure the minors' protection and well-being.
