In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, authorities in southwest Delhi executed a demolition drive in the Najafgarh area, targeting illegal structures allegedly linked to the narcotics trade, as confirmed by police on Tuesday.
The operation, conducted by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and local police in Baba Haridas Nagar, Dwarka, specifically targeted unauthorized constructions in Tel Mill Wali Gali and Transformer Wali Gali in Indra Market. According to police, these structures served as hubs for drug peddling and other anti-social activities.
Police noted that the platforms were used as distribution points for illicit drugs, where transactions were discreetly executed, often via makeshift counters. The operation involved several past offenders, and adequate police forces, including women personnel, were deployed to maintain law and order during the demolition.
