In a move signifying political transition, Assam's Advocate General Devajit Saikia officially resigned after the present government's term concluded. His resignation follows Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's own resignation, which was submitted to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
Governor Acharya has requested Sarma to maintain the role of head of the caretaker government until a new administration is appointed. This transition has made the resignation of Saikia and other constitutional officeholders inevitable.
Devajit Saikia expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the prestigious role of Advocate General. He acknowledged the support received from Chief Minister Sarma, the Council of Ministers, and the broader legal community throughout his tenure.
