In a dramatic development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raided the Mohali office of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau in connection with an alleged bribery scandal. The raid resulted in the arrest of a middleman accused of facilitating a deal with a bureau official to resolve a case at a local hotel.
According to sources, the CBI recovered Rs 13 lakh during the late-night operation. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has expressed its readiness to fully cooperate with the investigation if any of its members are implicated in the scandal, according to an official spokesperson.
This incident has sparked a political furore, with Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia launching a scathing attack on the AAP government. Majithia criticized Punjab's administration, alleging deep-seated corruption that requires eradication from top to bottom.
