In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended three individuals, including two middlemen, in a Rs 13-lakh bribery scandal within the Punjab Vigilance Department.
The arrests came after a dramatic late-night chase following a CBI raid based on a tip-off from a Punjab State Tax Officer. The officer accused Vikas Goyal and his son Raghav Goyal of soliciting Rs 20 lakh in bribes to dismiss a complaint against him.
The investigation also implicates O.P. Rana, the Reader to DGP Vigilance, as being actively involved in the conspiracy, with allegations of sensitive information exchanges. A dramatic chase ensued after an exchange of Rs 13 lakh and a mobile phone, leading to the arrest of key suspects.
