A high-stakes chase through the streets of Maharashtra's Beed city resulted in the capture of Ashish Shayamrao Athawale, a wanted criminal and notorious gang leader. The police acted swiftly, following a tip-off about Athawale's whereabouts.
Athawale had been on the run since a case was filed against him in 2024. On Monday night, he allegedly opened fire in a beer shop after being refused a drink, injuring the shopkeeper before making a hasty escape.
The action culminated in his capture when the police intercepted him on a motorcycle in the Kabadgalli area. Officers reported that they recovered a country-made pistol and a cartridge from Athawale, confirming his continued involvement in criminal activities. New charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act have been filed against him.
