Heightened Tensions in West Asia to Dominate BRICS Meeting Agenda

The escalating crisis in West Asia is poised to overshadow discussions at the upcoming BRICS foreign ministers' meeting hosted by India. The two-day event, set to commence on Thursday, aims to address the conflict's impact on global energy supply chains.

Iran has confirmed the participation of its Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, marking the first high-level visit to India from Tehran since the commencement of hostilities involving the US, Israel, and Iran. Araghchi is set to engage in talks with India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and other BRICS officials.

This meeting, leading up to the annual BRICS summit, seeks to find common ground on the West Asia conflict, a task challenged by divergent views among member countries. The Iranian conflict has already impacted global oil prices, with Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz raising energy concerns worldwide.
