Authorities have detained a 50-year-old individual linked to the murder of an RTI activist and an assault on a revenue official in Maharashtra's Palghar district, officials reported on Wednesday.
The violent encounter occurred on Tuesday near a quarry in the Shirgaon locality of Virar, as officials conducted their duties.
The RTI activist, Atmaram Patil, was killed and Mandal Officer Prabhakar Patil was seriously injured, prompting an intensified hunt for four other suspects. Authorities are probing possible motives, including connections to land disputes or mining concerns.
