The gang, operating across state lines, engaged in blackmail and impersonation, targets included a man who tragically died by suicide.
The investigation, prompted by a complaint from Ankita Pathak, widow of victim Rajendra Pathak, unveiled the systematic harassment and extortion he endured online. Police analyzed technical data and surveillance footage to identify and capture the culprits.
The accused exploited fake social media profiles, posed as authority figures, and utilized AI-generated obscene videos to blackmail victims. Key players in the network included Afsil Khan and accomplices who managed funds and fake accounts. Authorities seized several devices and documents during the operation, shedding light on the gang's operations.
