Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lauded the West Bengal Cabinet's decision to allocate land for the Border Security Force (BSF) to enhance the fencing along the India-Bangladesh border. He asserted that stringent border controls are crucial for Assam and the North East's security.
Speaking at a press conference post the inaugural cabinet meeting of his second term, Sarma emphasized the obstacles posed by gaps in fencing between Bangladesh and West Bengal. He highlighted that Assam's efforts against infiltration would be futile without similar measures in neighboring West Bengal.
According to Sarma, the West Bengal Cabinet has committed to providing land within 45 days for securing a critical 800 km stretch of the border.
