Alongside Sarma, other ministers, such as Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro, and Ajanta Neog, were inducted into the new Council of Ministers.
The event turned into a landmark political gathering, reportedly among the largest ever in Northeast India, underscoring Assam's growing importance on the national political map. Dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya, and BJP President Nitin Nabin, among others, graced the occasion, lending it even greater significance.
The ceremony also attracted a notable array of attendees, including the governors and chief ministers of various states, making it a significant congregation of political leadership. Prominent figures from diverse fields, such as Arjuna Awardees, Padma Bhushan awardees, and leading industrialists like Jeet Adani, further accentuated the ceremony's grandeur. This extensive attendance underscored a 'confident, connected, and emerging Assam' poised to become a pivotal player in India's national political dynamics.
Meanwhile, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, wife of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed gratitude to Assam's citizens for their trust in her husband's governance and developmental goals. Her remarks came as a response to allegations from Congress leader Pawan Khera, who claimed discrepancies in Sarma's election affidavit related to undisclosed foreign properties and alleged multiple foreign passports held by Riniki. Despite these controversies, she emphasized public support for Sarma's development-focused politics.
