The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five individuals in connection with the NEET UG paper leak case as it intensifies its investigation, officials reported on Wednesday. The arrests include three from Jaipur: Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, and Dinesh Biwal, along with Yash Yadav from Gurugram and Shubham Khairnar from Nashik.
Khairnar, aged 30, is being moved to Delhi for further interrogation after securing a transit remand. The CBI's nationwide searches have led to the seizure of mobile phones and laptops, which will undergo forensic examination to track potential messaging applications used to distribute the exam papers.
Political row erupted when former chief minister Ashok Gehlot linked one of the suspects to the ruling BJP, claims denied by the party. The NEET UG exam was canceled due to the leak, affecting nearly 23 lakh candidates. The probe continues as the CBI remains focused on a thorough and unbiased investigation.
