Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has set in motion a plan to streamline his official convoy, responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for reduced fuel consumption and efficient use of public resources.
On Wednesday, Varma instructed the state home department to evaluate the current security setup around his convoy and explore reducing the number of vehicles involved. Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Prashant Narnaware, communicated Varma's desire for this reassessment to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manisha Mhaiskar.
The initiative aims to balance necessary security with energy conservation. This move comes amid a broader appeal from PM Modi for citizens to cut back on foreign travel, reduce fuel use, and defer luxury purchases amidst the ongoing West Asia crisis.
