The Delhi High Court, on Thursday, requested responses from both the central and Delhi governments concerning a petition from the Indian National Congress. This plea demands the execution of a sale deed for the Congress's former headquarters at 7, Jantar Mantar Road.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav raised questions about the petition's maintainability, asking if an interim order could prevent the allotment of the property to another party. Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, representing the All India Congress Committee, insisted on advancing the petition despite this concern.
Congress claimed long-term possession since 1946, highlighting a history of payments towards the property. Despite numerous motions to the Delhi government post-2017, the execution of the sale deed remains pending. The case will continue on September 14 as parties await the government's stance.
