Tamil Nadu Boosts DA for State Employees and Teachers

In a move to enhance financial support for its employees, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has announced a 2% hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and teachers. This revision, set to take effect from January 1, 2026, increases the DA from 58% to 60%.
The increase is expected to impose an additional annual expenditure of Rs 1,230 crore on the state's finances. However, the government has assured that it will allocate the necessary funds, reiterating its commitment to the welfare of government staff, including pensioners and family pensioners.
Chief Minister Vijay also emphasized the crucial role of government officials and teachers in the creation and successful implementation of various welfare schemes. He pledged to formulate and carry out further initiatives to benefit the public.
