Governor's Lean Convoy: Response to Austerity Call

In a significant move reflecting the call for national austerity, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has pared down his official convoy to its essential size. This decision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent appeal for stricter fuel conservation and foreign exchange reduction efforts during the ongoing West Asia crisis.

The appeal, made by Modi during a BJP rally in Hyderabad, encouraged measures like minimizing petrol and diesel consumption, turning to metro rail and carpooling, and enhancing the adoption of electric vehicles. The use of railways for parcel transport and embracing work-from-home strategies were also advocated to conserve resources.

Modi also suggested a temporary halt in purchasing gold and traveling abroad, a decrease in edible oil consumption, lesser reliance on chemical fertilizers, and a push towards natural farming and swadeshi products to boost self-reliance and fortify foreign reserves.
