On Thursday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent opted not to address a recent Reuters report which claimed that the U.S. has authorized about 10 Chinese companies to acquire Nvidia's H200 AI chip.
Bessent emphasized that this situation falls under the purview of the Commerce Department, as he mentioned in an interview on CNBC's 'Squawk Box.'
'This is news to me,' Bessent remarked, referencing the ongoing discussions around the H200 chip. 'We'll have to see on that,' he added.
