India Denounces Attack on Indian Ship in Omani Waters Amid Escalating Conflict
India condemned an attack on an Indian-flagged vessel in Omani waters, emphasizing the need to protect commercial shipping during ongoing regional conflicts. The wooden vessel was targeted while traveling from Somalia to UAE. All crew members were safely rescued. The incident raises concerns over increased risks in the Gulf.
India has strongly condemned an attack that led to the sinking of an Indian-flagged dhow navigating through Omani waters, labeling the act as 'unacceptable'. The vessel, traveling from Somalia to the United Arab Emirates, caught fire following an explosion believed to involve a drone or missile strike.
All 14 crew members were rescued by the Omani coast guard. While India hasn't specified the attackers, the incident comes amid a heightened risk environment for shipping around the Strait of Hormuz due to the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.
Further complicating tensions, the attack coincides with the BRICS foreign ministers meeting in New Delhi, underscoring the region's instability. This marks another alarming incident with two other Indian ships previously targeted since the conflict began, urging India to voice deep concerns to Iran.
