Phase-3 SIR Electoral Roll Revision Announced Across Regions

The Election Commission has commenced Phase-3 of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, impacting 16 states and three Union territories. This extensive exercise, which begins in Haryana, will see 20,629 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conduct thorough door-to-door verification of voter information starting June 15, concluding by July 14, 2026.
Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer, A Sreenivas, emphasized the significance of July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date for the voting eligibility in the state. The preparation phase, including training activities, will be operational from June 5 to June 14, 2026, with the updated draft electoral rolls scheduled to be published on July 21, 2026.
In Chandigarh, a similar exercise is underway, involving over 614 BLOs and 1,143 booth level agents. SIR's preparatory processes are aimed at thorough enumeration and voter registration accuracy across all 614 polling stations, catering to approximately 5.18 lakh electors. Citizens are urged to cooperate fully in this democratic endeavor.
