Authorities have issued warnings about cybercriminals generating fake websites that mimic official cricket match ticket booking platforms. These fraudulent sites closely resemble legitimate ones, making them difficult for the public to distinguish. In recent days, a surge in related complaints has been reported to the Cyber Helpline (1930), according to police.
Reports reveal victims often access these sites through misleading ads and links on social media, such as Facebook and Instagram. Victims seeking tickets become unwitting targets, lured into scams that also promise online lotteries, high investment returns, and other lucrative offers.
The police emphasize the importance of verifying website authenticity before conducting transactions, urging the use of official channels. They recommend avoiding untrusted links and advising immediate reporting to the Cyber Helpline (1930) if fraud is suspected.
