On Thursday, Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh visited Kangchup Chingkhong to ensure the safe return and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs). Singh emphasized that adequate security measures will be implemented to assist their reintegration. Plans for constructing housing for security forces in the region were also unveiled.

The chief minister highlighted the significance of dialogue in bridging trust deficits between communities, referencing Jiribam district as a successful example of harmony. Singh announced that grievances regarding increased monetary aid for house reconstruction would be addressed, while infrastructure improvements, such as road and water supply, were underway.

During the visit, Singh granted Rs 10,000 to 754 IDP college students under a rehabilitation scheme. A local IDP expressed being inspired by Singh's comparison of global peace processes, which encouraged communal understanding. The government is committed to creating job opportunities post skill-development training.
