The altercation during the game, held at Tarhouna's stadium, led to chaos with fans storming the pitch, causing disruptions and injuries to stadium guards. The match was ultimately halted in the 87th minute due to escalating tensions.
On social media, images showed injured guards being hurried to local hospitals. Meanwhile, eye-witnesses reported angered fans marching towards the GNU building in Tripoli, where a fire ensued, bringing about swift responses from security and firefighting units.
