Successful Repatriation of Stranded Crew After US Vessel Seizure
Pakistan, with help from Singapore, repatriated 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian crew members from the seized vessel MV Touska. Deputy PM Ishaq Dar confirmed their safe boarding on a flight to Islamabad. The vessel was seized by the US last month in the Gulf of Oman for violating a blockade.
In a successful diplomatic effort, Pakistan announced the repatriation of 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian crew members from the seized vessel MV Touska. Facilitated by Singapore, the crew are en route to Islamabad, after being stranded near Singapore for weeks following US intervention.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, confirmed that the individuals boarded a flight from Singapore, expecting to reach Islamabad later in the evening. This action follows the US seizure of the Iranian container vessel in the Gulf of Oman on April 19 for allegedly breaching an American naval blockade.
Dar extended gratitude to Singapore, Iran, the US, and Thailand for their collaborative efforts. He noted that this operation was crucial in maintaining diplomatic relations and ensuring the safety of the detained seafarers. The remaining Iranian crew will be facilitated back to Iran once they arrive in Islamabad.
