In an unprecedented move, Suresh Kumar Khanna, the Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has been named the Assembly's first 'Outstanding MLA'. This historic decision was made during a meeting chaired by Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, reflecting Khanna's exceptional parliamentary skills and dedication.

The newly formed 'Outstanding Legislator Committee' unanimously selected Khanna for his extensive knowledge and commendable legislative behavior. Other prominent officials present included Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, and Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, highlighting the significant achievements of Khanna.

Notably, this selection marks the first instance of this accolade being awarded in the state, following a rule introduced in 2023 to recognize exemplary legislative contributions. Khanna's distinction reflects his long-standing commitment as a nine-time MLA from Shahjahanpur.
