In a significant administrative shuffle, the Delhi government has appointed deputy commissioners as District Appropriate Authorities under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act. According to an official notification, this decision is part of a broader reorganisation of the national capital's revenue districts aimed at enhancing governance.
The reorganisation involves the creation of three new districts—Old Delhi, Central North, and Outer North—while the Shahdara district has been abolished. The existing districts have been redrawn, resulting in a total of 13 revenue districts. This initiative is intended to simplify governance and improve the quality of citizen services throughout Delhi.
These appointments are effective immediately, and supersede previous notifications related to district authorities under the Act. However, actions taken under earlier orders will remain valid, ensuring continuity in governance as the new structure takes effect.
