Urgent Borewell Survey Initiated in Hoshiarpur

In response to a recent incident where a four-year-old fell into a borewell, Hoshiarpur's district administration has launched a swift survey and sealing initiative for open and abandoned borewells. This action comes on the heels of a successful nine-hour rescue operation.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain has directed various departments to conduct thorough inspections across both rural and urban sectors of the district. The effort, backed by the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and the Punjab Land Preservation Act, aims to address the serious threat such borewells pose to public safety.

Multiple governing bodies, including Panchayati Raj institutions and municipal councils, are involved in identifying and securing these hazards. Authorities have been given a deadline of seven days to report compliance, detailing surveyed and secured borewell areas.
