Urban Unemployment Sees Slight Decline in Latest Survey
The latest Periodic Labour Force Survey reveals a slight decrease in urban unemployment rates from 6.7% to 6.6% between the October-December 2025 and January-March 2026 quarters. The survey, covering over 561,822 individuals, indicates stability in labour metrics, with minor fluctuations between urban and rural sectors.
The latest findings from the Periodic Labour Force Survey, released by the National Statistics Office, reveal a marginal decrease in the unemployment rate in urban areas for the January-March 2026 quarter.
According to the survey, which encompassed data from over 561,822 individuals aged 15 and above, the unemployment rate dropped slightly from 6.7% to 6.6%, indicating a positive trend in job creation within urban sectors.
Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) and Worker Population Ratio (WPR) have largely remained stable, with minimal changes in employment distribution across primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors between rural and urban regions.
