An unsettling incident has occurred in the district jail, where a 45-year-old inmate has died after his health reportedly declined on Saturday. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Krishna Gopal Singh, the inmate, identified as Arun Verma from Meerut, had been in custody since April 13 on a theft charge.
Verma began experiencing uneasiness and restlessness, prompting jail authorities to transfer him from the jail hospital to the district hospital. Despite medical efforts, attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police have notified Verma's family about the tragic event, sparking discussions around the conditions and medical care provided to inmates in custody.
