An alarming incident of acid attack unfolded in Shergarh, where a woman and her family became victims of violence after she declined a suitor's proposal, police reported on Saturday.
The attack happened during the early hours as the family, including the woman, her husband, and their two children, were asleep in their home. The assailant allegedly infiltrated their veranda via the roof and hurled the corrosive substance through a mosquito net.
Identified as Umesh Kashyap, the accused was reportedly compelled by his desire to marry Lakshmi Devi, despite his existing marital ties. Following the attack, authorities have registered an FIR and established teams to apprehend Kashyap. Meanwhile, the injured parties received medical attention at the Shergarh Community Health Centre and one family member was subsequently transferred to a local district hospital.
