In a swift response to a grievous crime, seven people, including two minors, have been detained for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Jharkhand's Pakur district. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, prompting local authorities to register a case under the POCSO Act the following day.
Vijay Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Maheshpur, confirmed the incident. 'An SIT was formed and all seven accused were apprehended within hours of the case registration,' Kumar stated. The young victim was abducted while playing near her home and subsequently assaulted by the accused at a nearby isolated spot.
The victim disclosed her harrowing experience to her parents, which led to the swift initiation of legal proceedings. As investigations continue, the adult suspects are being interrogated by the police, while the juvenile offenders have been sent to a remand home. A medical examination declared the girl's condition stable, and she is currently under the district's Child Welfare Committee's observation.
