Security forces have intensified operations in Manipur's Kangpokpi district in a bid to rescue individuals still held hostage by armed groups, according to police statements on Monday.
In recent operations, 31 hostages belonging to the Kuki and Naga communities were freed, following deadly attacks by suspected militants that left three church leaders dead. These hostages were initially taken to undisclosed locations, sparking an urgent response from security forces.
Despite successes, tensions continue as the United Naga Council mobilizes inter-district blockades and the Kuki Inpi Manipur reports unresolved cases of missing persons. The state's security forces remain dedicated to their mission of freeing all detained civilians.
