Businessman Robert Vadra has unconditionally withdrawn his petition in the Delhi High Court that challenged a trial court's summons in a money laundering case related to a land deal in Haryana's Shikohpur. The withdrawal was recorded by Justice Manoj Jain after Vadra's counsel submitted that they would not pursue the petition.
Vadra, the husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has been facing scrutiny from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which had opposed his petition, accusing it of being based on false legal submissions. The case revolves around a deal conducted between 2008 and 2012 in Haryana, with the charges becoming relevant post-2013.
The probe against Vadra, involving a land deal in Gurugram district with Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd, led to charges of money laundering. Vadra, however, has consistently denied wrongdoing, describing the allegations as a 'political vendetta' orchestrated against him and his family.
