Punjab Police Uncovers Major Fake Currency Racket in Malerkotla
Punjab Police have dismantled a fake currency operation in Malerkotla, arresting four individuals and seizing counterfeit currency worth Rs 5.50 lakh. The operation revealed the involvement of individuals with criminal backgrounds. More arrests and recoveries are expected as the investigation continues.

In a significant development, Punjab Police announced the busting of a fake currency module in Malerkotla on Monday, with the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of counterfeit currency valued at Rs 5.50 lakh.
Among those apprehended are Nazar Khan and Asif Ali from Malerkotla; Raj Mohammad, a resident of Dhuri in Sangrur; and Mukhtiyar Singh, alias Gurjit Singh, from Jind, Haryana. The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, disclosed that all recovered fake currency notes were in Rs 500 denomination. He added that Raj Mohammad has a prior criminal record related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Assistant Inspector General of Counter Intelligence, Patiala, Simrat Kaur, shared that a meticulous operation by the CI Unit, Malerkotla led to the arrest of Nazar Khan and Raj Mohammad, with Rs 4 lakh in counterfeit notes seized. Subsequently, Mukhtiyar Singh and Asif Ali were also arrested with an additional recovery of Rs 1.5 lakh in counterfeit currency. Investigations are underway, with more arrests anticipated in the upcoming days.
