The ongoing Census 2027 in Delhi has seen extensive participation, with officials reporting over 63,000 households and approximately 2.5 lakh individuals being counted in the Lytuen's Delhi and Cantt areas. These figures emerged from the Houselisting and Housing Operation phase conducted from April 16 to May 15.
Initial data collection began with a self-enumeration phase from April 1-15, during which a few thousand participants provided their household information. Officials noted New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has a floating population of around 10 lakh, highlighting the challenge of accurate count.
In the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) areas, the houselisting phase involves around 50,000 enumerators covering more than 46,000 houselisting blocks. This work showcases the digital nature of the 16th national exercise, set to conclude in September with the second population enumeration in February 2027.
