Chhattisgarh Cops Seize Gold Worth Rs 9.17 Crore

Police authorities in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh have made a significant seizure, confiscating 7.5 kilograms of gold valued at Rs 9.17 crore from a vehicle, confirmed an official on Monday.

Following a tip-off, the car was intercepted at the Rehtikhol checkpost on national highway-353 under the jurisdiction of Singhora police station. The occupants, identified as Jayesh Akbari, Sunit Karena, and Rushi Agravat, failed to provide satisfactory explanations or documentation for the gold.

Originating from Rajkot, Gujarat, the gold was clandestinely stowed inside plastic boxes hidden in backpacks beneath the car's rear seat. The case is now in the hands of the Income Tax Department and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for extensive investigation.
