Major U.S. Helicopter Deal with South Korea Approved

The U.S. State Department announced on Monday its approval of a substantial $3 billion deal to sell advanced helicopters to South Korea, signaling a strengthening of defense ties between the two nations.
The contract designates Lockheed Martin as the principal supplier, providing 24 MH-60R multi-mission helicopters as part of this strategic transaction. The delivery of these helicopters is set to bolster South Korea's military capabilities significantly.
In addition, Boeing has been tapped as the primary contractor for a separate $1.2 billion upgrade initiative. This program will enhance existing equipment with cutting-edge radar electronic units and radios, among other technologies, further modernizing South Korea's defense systems.
