A man accused of wielding a sword to attack another individual was shot by police in Berhampur, Odisha, as he attempted to flee, confirmed a senior officer on Monday.
This incident represents the third similar police action in the city over just nine days, highlighting growing concerns about escalating criminal rivalries in the region.
Police reports indicate that Jagannath Sahu, who allegedly assaulted officers during his arrest in the Bauri Sukunda area, was shot in the leg in self-defense. He was later admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in a stable condition.
